Putting a Wine Room in Your Custom Home

If you love to drink wine, then you probably consider yourself a collector. But if there isn’t enough room in your house to store your collection, you might be running short on options. One of the reasons to build a custom home is that you can have all the room you want for your next home, and if that includes a wine room or a wine cellar, then it’s even more reason to do it.

One of the reasons to build a custom home is that you can have all the room you want for your next home, and if that includes a wine room or a wine cellar, then it’s even more reason to do it.

You Need Space

Before you can get started on designing the wine room in your custom home, there are several factors you will need to take into consideration. One of these factors is how much space you will need. Besides, you don’t want your expensive wine to be exposed to direct sunlight, which makes it trickier to decide where to put the room in the first place. It needs to be kept cool at around 55 degrees fahrenheit, and you need to have a decent amount of humidity at around 57%, so those are numbers you need to remember as you plan where to situate the room, especially if you have a large collection.

The Size of Your Collection

How many bottles of wine you have will also help determine the dimensions of your new wine room. This becomes even more important when you decide whether or not to have multiple kitchens or dining rooms that connect to your wine room. In 30 square feet, you can store 250 bottles at the same time! If all you need to do is store your wine, then that should be all the space you need.

Potential Uses

Then again, you could want to host wine tastings and other occasions at your custom home. That would certainly be one way to have a housewarming party, and you can decide whether the syrah or the malbec tastes better with the pizza you baked in the brick oven you added to your outdoor kitchen.
