What to Do with the Spare Room in Your Custom Home

What to Do with the Spare Room in Your Custom Home
Here are some ideas for what to do when you have a spare room in your custom home.

Sometimes when you have an extra room in your new home, you won’t know what to do with it. Sure, it could serve as extra storage, but then it will just feel like untapped potential. Here are some ideas for what to do when you have a spare room in your custom home.

An Office

Whether you make your living working from home or you would prefer to have an office, you can use your spare room for that. That means you won’t have to set up shop in a crowded and noisy kitchen when you want to get some work done, whether it’s working remotely or you want to get cracking on your next novel. You won’t have to spend all of that time commuting, and when you need a break you can just get up and play with your pets or join your kids in the playroom next door.

Playroom

If you have enough room in your house, you can also have a playroom. Your children will have their own space where they can store their toys and games and keep them out of the way. This means that your living room or den won’t have to be too cluttered, and you can also use the playroom for additional storage, especially if it’s down in the basement.

Hobby Room

Whether you would like your spare room to be your own private library, a place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day, or to store all of your crafting materials, the possibilities are endless. Turning your spare room into a hobby room is easy enough to do. You can even turn it into a game room and host exciting table tennis tournaments, or have your own coffeehouse inside your home without overburdening your kitchen.

Guest Room

Whenever friends visit from out of town, you can have them stay in your guest room. Even if you have enough bedrooms in your house already, they might not want to share a room with their young children. A guest room is a good place to keep a young child in the dark and quiet away from the rest of the house if they have trouble getting to sleep. Also, if you need to put up an elderly relative for the night because the power at their own house has gone out, then you can do that too.
