How to Design a Home Office for Your Custom Home

If you work remotely or are self-employed, then chances are you have a room in your home dedicated to office space.

Do you often work from home? If you work remotely or are self-employed, then chances are you have a room in your home dedicated to office space. Here’s how to design a beautiful new home office in your custom home.

Bring In More Color

Spring is a colorful time of year. With its bright, vibrant colors, you can look past the misery of spring allergy season by enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings all around you. Your home office doesn’t need to be a dark cave. So, if the rest of your custom home is bursting with color, don’t hesitate to do the same for your home office. Reds and oranges reflect a passion for your hobby, while shades of blue can calm you down.

Update Your Lighting

You can’t get your work down if you can’t see what you’re doing. In that case, it’s time to update your lighting. You don’t always need to do this by adding more electric lights, even though that it is helpful. Find ways to encourage some natural light, for instance, take advantage of windows in your custom home, especially the ones in the room you want to establish as the home office.

Increase Your Privacy

Don’t forget to give yourself some privacy, too. Sometimes you’ll work best with a do not disturb sign on the door, or if you have a set schedule where friends, family, and other visitors know that you’ll be locked away in your home office. But you’ll still need to come back out and enjoy the rest of your custom home, from time to time.

Place Your Desk

Where you put your desk makes a huge difference too, especially if you can’t work with too much clutter around you. Do you want the desk against the far wall? Or facing the door so you know when someone enters and who it is? These are crucial questions for you to ask.
