Building a Custom Home

Building a Custom Home

A custom home is a fantastic investment for your family!

We understand if you’ve been having trouble finding the home of your dreams. If none of the pre-built or older homes you’ve looked at are to your liking, then it’s time. If you’re curious what the process of building a custom home is like, then here is a guide to building your first custom home.

Financial Concerns

It may not seem like it at first, but building a custom home can actually be much more affordable, especially if you’re working on a tight budget. After all, you can include all the features you want and need, without having to settle for something you don’t care for, but do think about your budget. Your budget also outlines the size of the home, the materials, and any features built into each room before you can start moving in. You may need to determine your credit score and put down a down payment to secure your home’s lot in your new neighborhood.

Finding the Right Lot

Finding the right lot is another crucial part of the custom home building process. Whether it’s a lot you find on your own, or you choose one of ours, Homeland Builders is happy to start construction wherever you want your new home to be. Does your yard have any odd features or slopes you might not know about? What are the trees like? Is it near a body of water? All of these are critical questions to ask before the first crews arrive and lay your foundation.

Starting Construction

Once you’ve found the perfect place to begin the construction phase, workers will need to start with some excavation work. This will get anything underground of the way and attempt to level out the lot. Then the foundation will be built on top of the newly-cleared land, and from there, the walls, ceilings, and rooms will appear one by one.
